Sean Vandevander is a young entrepreneur Insider has written about numerous times. A graduate of Leadership Louisville’s Bingham Fellows program, he co-created EcoBridge Industries — a startup that introduces farmers to manufacturers with a mission of sustainably growing crops (like hemp and kenaf) that can be processed into plastics and eco-friendly products.
Earlier this year, Vandevander, 32, had to step down after his brain cancer, diagnosed in 2012, returned. He now resides in Los Angeles to undergo experimental therapies on the tumor (hemangiopericytoma). Some of Vandevander’s friends and colleagues have organized a Sean-A-Thon NuLu Bar Crawl on Tuesday, Aug. 9, to help raise funds for his increasing medical bills and living expenses.
Three NuLu bars will participate in the fundraiser, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Taj, then movies to Galaxie around 6:30, and heads to Garage Bar at 7:30. Each establishment will donate a portion of their proceeds to Vandevander.
“Come on, people. Get out after work on Tuesday and spend some money for Sean,” says organizer and friend Jim Higdon in a press release.
There will be live music from A Lion Named Roar, Otis Junior & Adonis, and Zach Longoria at Garage Bar, as well.
If you can’t make it on Tuesday, you can still help Vandevander out by donating to his GoFundMe page.
