There’s long been a Taste of Frankfort Avenue, along with similar culinary events celebrating the Highlands, West Louisville and the city as a whole. Now there’s A Taste of Main Street, too, which is fitting given how many restaurants and bars have emerged along downtown’s main thoroughfare. The event, which takes place Friday at Actors Theatre, is being put on by the Main Street Association (MSA).
Nearly 20 restaurants, distilleries and bars have signed up to offer samples of food and drink, and there will be live music by Frankie Moody and a chance to win a pair of tickets to next year’s Humana Fest.
Participating in the inaugural event are: Bearno’s By the Bridge, BBC, the Bristol Bar & Grille, Crushed Ice Events, Doc Crow’s, Evan Williams, Goodwood, Los Aztecas, Michter’s, Morton’s, Over the Nine, Old 502 Winery, Rivulet Pecan Liqueur, Mayan Café, Milkwood, Troll Pub and — last but certainly not least — White Castle.
A Taste of Main will help raise funds for MSA, which promotes and advocates for the downtown businesses on or near Main Street, as well as introduce people to the various places they might not have visited.
“Our Main Street has literally everything to do. From sports to concerts to museums and fabulous restaurants, we offer a different experience for every visitor and on every day,” said Robin Miller, executive director of MSA, in a press release. “Our new Taste event is a great way for us to show off our amazing Main Street chefs and the delicious cocktails that pair so well with the food they prepare.”
A Taste of Main Street takes place from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at Actors Theatre, 316 W. Main St. Tickets are $35 and include unlimited samples and six drink tickets. There also will be a cash bar and door prizes given away every half hour.
