Hundreds of people will gather along Frankfort Avenue on Saturday, April 20, as the 27th annual Easter Parade rolls on by. From kids on floats to bunnies and goats, it’s certainly a sight to see, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a piece of candy or two.
The parade is put on each year by the Frankfort Avenue Business Association, which ensures there are plenty of family-friendly floats and it all runs on time like clockwork.
This year, other than the Easter Bunny himself (or herself?), the beloved Bill Samuels Jr., chairman emeritus Maker’s Mark Distillery, will serve as the grand marshal.
Samuels is a legend in the bourbon industry and a champion for Louisville. And he’s no stranger to Frankfort Avenue, as he can often be found at the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on the last Friday of each month.
The parade is free to attend and starts at 11:30 a.m. in front of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Ave. It travels north from Stilz to Pope Street and wraps up around 1 p.m.
And from noon to 3 p.m., you can get your pet’s picture with the Easter Bunny at Pet Wants, located at 1718 Frankfort Ave.
