Cincinnati-based restaurateur Jeff Ruby announced Monday that he will give every graduate of seven area colleges a free steak dinner.

Ruby announced the news on Bill Cunningham’s show on 700WLW, a Greater Cincinnati radio station.

Ruby said that every student who graduates from Northern Kentucky University, Xavier University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville and Vanderbilt University in the next four years can come to any of his restaurants to receive a complimentary steak dinner as a graduation present.

Ruby’s Louisville restaurant is located downtown at 325 W. Main St.

Ohio State will be added to the list next year after Ruby’s Columbus location opens.

These seven universities produce terrific young adults.” Ruby said. “With graduation on the horizon and with each school’s NCAA Tournament participation, we thought this would be a great way to recognize both the athletic as well as academic achievement of the talented young leaders from all of these great schools.”

Ruby told Cunningham that the students would have to show proof of their recent graduations, and said “we’ll work out the details later.”

Details will be released in the coming weeks on the company’s website, he added.

Ruby previously made headlines after promising steak dinners to every NKU undergrad if the No. 15 Norse upset the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament. UK beat NKU 79-70.
