If a relaxing evening outdoors paired with some vintage tunes sounds like a good way to kick off the weekend, then head on over to Highview.

Taking place every other Friday at Highview Park through August, FridayFest features local live music along with food in a family-friendly environment.

This coming Friday, July 8, the event will host Billy Goat Strut Revue with guest Jeni Carr. The Strut describes themselves as “bourbon jazz” — think a bustling, smoky New Orleans bar in the Roaring ’20s, and you get the picture. Their inspirations range from Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith to Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway.

The music begins at 6 p.m., but gates open at 5. Local vendors will offer a plethora of food options, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. Admission is free. Highview Park is located at 7122 Briscoe Lane, right off of the Outer Loop.

The rest of the FridayFest schedule is below:

• July 22 — The Louisville Crashers

• Aug. 12 — The Monarchs with Turley Richards
