The proof is in the air — summer barbecue season is in full swing around town, and one event in particular celebrates the tasty backyard fare and pairs it with ice cold beer and the soulful sound of the blues. The annual Louisville Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival once again takes over the Water Tower this weekend for hungry and thirsty revelers.
So far, Boss Hog’s BBQ, Rack House BBQ, and Momma’s Mustard, Pickles & BBQ (reviewed by IL earlier this year) have signed on to offer up their delicious yet different styles of barbecue, along with all the sides that make the meal exceptional. The bands set to play include Little T&A, V-Groove, Carl Weatherby Blues Band on Friday; Tullie Brae, Blues and Greys; Boscoe France; and The Cash Box Kings on Saturday; and Da Mudcats, The Kingbees and Nora Jean Bruso on Sunday.
For beer-lovers, there’ll be more than a dozen craft beers from breweries in Kentucky and Southern Indiana in the tasting tent; and for those looking for more punch and less fizz, Four Roses Bourbon also will be available.
The Louisville Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival runs July 10-12 at the Water Tower, 3005 River Road. Admission is $12 before 6 p.m. and $16 after. Children under 10 are free. And a three-day pass can be purchased for $30. Hours are: 5-11:30 p.m. Friday; 4-11:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1-7 p.m. Sunday. For a full schedule and more information, click here.
