SuperChefs owner Darnell Ferguson and two of his classmates from Sullivan University are taking over the kitchen management at Club Nirvana, 1047 Bardstown Road.

Ferguson, Austin Harris and Devonte Bolden will formally introduce their menu this Thursday, Sept 20, and the bar’s name will shift to Nirvana Bar + Eats.

“Austin, Devonte, and I have been looking for a project or a way to work together since we graduated from culinary school, and the Nirvana space was the perfect opportunity,” Ferguson said in a news release. “It’s a great location, and we’re thrilled to be partnering to provide the neighborhood with all their bar food and happy hour needs. We can’t wait for regulars, SuperChef fans, and new friends to try out the menu.”

The menu includes “small baskets” for $8 and sandwiches for $11 to $12. Offerings include the Fresh Prince Philly cheesesteak (chuck steak, cheese sauce, sliced cheese and giardiniera vegetables); fish tacos (catfish with lime chipotle ranch and mango salsa); Bangbang Cauliflower (deep-fried cauliflower drizzled with spicy “bangbang” sauce); and Bougie Fries (truffle fries topped with Alfredo, spinach, chicken, peppers and cheese).

Nirvana, formerly the troubled bar Cahoots, is owned by Kashmira Singh, owner of Kashmir Indian Restaurant and bar Time & Space, both also on Bardstown Road.

Singh told Insider back in early 2017 that he and his family were committed to changing the bar’s reputation for the better, making Nirvana more of an “upscale, casual atmosphere.”

Nirvana’s hours of operation remain the same, but food will be served 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with late night options available from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour is 5 to 7 p.m., and specials will be offered on Sundays during the NFL season from 1 to 8 p.m.

In addition to $6 small baskets during happy hour, customers can order $3 drinks and $10 bottles of wine.
