Just saying.

Every once in a while, I think the bacon trend has run its course.

And then something with bacon crosses my palate, and I realize that I was foolish to ever believe that bacon was a “trend.”

Bacon– I think it is safe to say– is here to stay.

Our friends at the Louisville Visual Arts Association have given Insider Louisville the exclusive skinny on their wildly popular fundraiser: the 3rd Annual Bacon Ball.

This event was so well-attended last year that even the expansive space at the Water Tower couldn’t quite accommodate its crowds. So this year, on May 18, the Bacon Ball moves to Oxmoor Farm located behind Oxmoor Mall. Last year nearly 1,200 people came to the Ball; with the larger space that comes with this year’s venue change, there will plenty of room for even more guests to enjoy this annual fundraiser.

The event, which is scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m., will feature at least 10 local restaurants competing to win the Bacon King award as they serve samples of their best pork-inspired dishes. There will also be local beverages, music, and a silent auction.

Lest you think that bacon is a limiting ingredient, just look at what pops up when you put “bacon dishes” in the Google.

Stay tuned to Insider Louisville for more details on the event. The LVAA hasn’t released the names of the bands or the competing restaurants yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you that information when we get it. Hopefully, this is enough of a taste to get you excited about this great community event.

Make sure you get this date on your calendar. Tickets go on sale in March: $30 for LVAA members/$50 for pair of member tickets (you can join online now), $40 for non-members/ $70 for pair of non-member tickets. Group rates available.

Proceeds from the Bacon Ball benefit LVAA programs including: JCPS Art Supply Fund, Artebella, Children’s Fine Art Classes, and OPEN DOORS.

Katie Levy at LVAA says, “As this event takes place on the farm, we are strongly suggesting no stilettos, sorry guys.” So plan your duds accordingly.
