Larry Bond, who previously served as chief of staff to former Gov. Steve Beshear in his second term, announced his resignation last week from the administration of Mayor Greg Fischer.

Mayoral spokesman Chris Poynter says Bond had served as a liaison to Metro Council for Fischer’s office over the last couple of months, and his last day in that position was Friday. According to the Metro Government website, Bond had an annual salary of $54,000.

On Thursday it also was reported that Gov. Matt Bevin had removed Bond from his position as chairman of the Louisville Arena Authority, which helps manage the operations and debt financing of the KFC Yum! Center. Bond — who was appointed as chair of the board by Beshear shortly before leaving office last year — will remain a member of the board, though Bevin chose prominent Louisville attorney Scott Cox to take over the chairmanship.

Earlier this year, Bevin vowed to investigate unspecified “corruption” in Beshear’s previous administration, citing the federal indictment of Tim Longmeyer for an alleged kickback scheme. Longmeyer worked in the governor’s office before Beshear appointed him as secretary of the Finance Cabinet.

An open records request for Bond’s resignation letter was not immediately returned by Fischer’s office.
