Local government affects citizens’ daily lives more than any other level of government, and local journalism is essential to keeping both citizens and elected officials informed about community issues.

One week after Election Day 2018, Insider Louisville partnered with The Library Foundation to host an event for citizens to meet members of Metro Council and the JCPS school board at the Main Library. Newly- and re-elected officials laid out their vision for 2019, and there was a roomful of conversations between and among public officials and Louisville constituents.

In other words, it was civic engagement in action.
