BBC’s Pat Hagan at last year’s Highlands Beer Fest

The 12th annual Bardstown Bound likes its alliteration. Besides the obvious, this year we can add bus to the beer, bike and brew bonanza that befalls the Highlands festival. On Saturday, May 16, neighborhood residents and area beer enthusiasts are encouraged to take part in one or all of the major festivities at Bardstown Bound.

highlandsbeerfestOrganized by Simply PR Productions, this year’s event features a new Bus Tour that begins at the Valu Market Highlands Beer Festival and then makes another five stops between the Highlands, Downtown and Jeffersonville. It includes a painted can growler and sandwiches by Science Hill. It runs 12:30-4:30 p.m. and costs $25 advance or $35 the day of. A portion of the proceeds will go to Apron Inc.

The Valu Market Beer Fest runs from 3-7 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Back Door. Admission is $5, and each sample is $1. Expect more than 60 breweries offering over 200 beers, and all proceeds go to the Bluegrass Center for Autism.

As always, businesses up and down Bardstown Road will be offering specials all day long during the event, and there will be free Thirsty Pedaler Rides from Eastern Parkway to Baxter Avenue from 5-8 p.m.
