We can now officially add “Second Annual” to the IdeaFestival Water Conference.

The event debuted last year with Louisville-based filmmaker Gill Holland, who produced the documentary “FLOW: For the Love of Water,” and then-Louisville Water Co. president and CEO Greg Heitzman.

This year, Louisville-based WaterStep, the Louisville-based charity that helps people in developing countries develop clean water supplies, will host the 2nd Annual IF Water Conference on Tues., Sept. 24.

Keynote speaker will be Charles Fishman, author of “The Wal-Mart Effect,” “the first book to crack open Wal-Mart’s wall of secrecy,” according to a news release.

Fishman will be discussing his recent book, “The Big Thirst,” “which explores how water runs our world, yet is taken for granted,” according to a news release.

image001As a former metro and national reporter for the Washington Post and a reporter for business magazine Fast Company, Fishman has won numerous awards, including three UCLA Gerald Loeb Awards, the most prestigious award in business journalism.

Other IF Water presenters will include Heitzman, now CEO of both the water company and Metropolitan Sewer District, and Mark Hogg, Founder and CEO of WaterStep.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Muhammad Ali Center in downtown Louisville in conjunction with IdeaFestival.

Advance tickets are on sale for $50 for adults and $15 for students.

Ticket price includes lunch.

Tickets will go up to $60 for adults beginning August 1, according to the release. You can purchase tickets here.

IF Water is presented by WaterStep in conjunction with the 2013 IdeaFestival, with support from Louisville Water Co. and the Muhammad Ali Center.
