This is my weekly stab at shameless self promotion.

Actually, at IL’s new Insiders Meetup at Vincenzo’s each Monday afternoon, we want to promote you and the important things you’re doing to make Louisville America’s Next Great City.

Last week, Monday Meetup hosted Terry McWilliams and Justin Brown, two of the founders of Real Estate Venture Exchange, the new quarterly deals forum.

Brown, Marian Development Group, and McWilliams, Mozaic Investor Relations, gave us an overview of REVE, its mission and a preview of Gill Holland’s presentation at REVE’s luncheon yesterday.

Monday, we have CITY Properties Managing Director Bill Weyland, hot off his announcement Thursday of not just the details behind his new Hilton Garden Inn hotel at Fourth and Chestnut, but a new music venue next door to be operated by LA-based Live Nation.

Metro Mayor Greg Fischer devoted a majority of his remarks this morning to the energy the concert hall could bring to that stretch of Fourth Street, a section of downtown economic development officials have targeted for redevelopment for years.

“It’s happening, man!” Fischer said to Weyland during the ceremony. “It’s awesome!”

Truth is, it’s been happening for Bill since 1996 when he turned an abandoned Main Street building into the Slugger Museum. Add to that his redevelopment of the abandoned Snyder Manufacturing Building into Glassworks, an old YWCA into the glam The Henry Clay and a bunch of other projects, and you have an unequaled record of bringing back to life Louisville’s downtown.

That’s the kind of excitement we want at Insider Meetups.

An attendee last week asked us, “So what are you trying to do here with Insiders Meetup?”

The truth: Our goal is to revel in this crazy moment in Louisville’s history!

So, now you know our secret agenda: Grab a drink, meet other Insiders and have fun. The event is free to attend, and Vincenzo’s is offering free valet parking (beginning at 5 p.m.) and drink and bar menu specials.

(Vincenzo’s Director of Catering and Special Events Jonathan Tarullo loaded us down with three different hors d’oeuvres last week, including salmon. We can’t promise that each time.)

The event is open to the first 50 Insiders who register at Eventbrite here.

Vincenzo’s is located at 150 S. Fifth Street. Dress is business casual.
