It’s commonly known you shouldn’t discuss religion or politics at a bar, but the folks behind the “Science on Tap” series believe it’s totally fine to discuss science while enjoying an adult beverage or two.

The Kentucky Science Center has partnered with Goodwood Brewing Co. for the monthly series, which will address a variety of science-related topics at the NuLu brewery. The theme of the Tuesday, July 14, event is drug-resistant bacteria and will be led by U of L’s Dr. Yoder-Himes Lab.

According to a press release, the talk will focus on how antibiotics work, why antibiotic resistance is spreading, and how to combat its emergence and spread.

Upcoming “Science on Tap” topics include the society of neuroscience (Aug. 11), the history and biology of lead poisoning (Sept. 8), and cadavers with the U of L Body Bequeathal Program (Oct. 13).

The free events start at 7 p.m. at Goodwood Brewing, 636 E. Main St. You must be 21 and over to attend.
