Hal Heiner plans to run for governor of Ky.

Former Louisville Metro Council member and one-time Republican mayoral candidate Hal Heiner has announced he is considering a run for governor of Kentucky in 2015.

Heiner posted this message on his Facebook page earlier today:

After a great deal of consideration and prayer, I plan to announce my intentions on a potential run for Governor. I hope you can attend one of two events tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4th. See my events page for more details.

A formal announcement is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Jordan Technologies, 5051 Commerce Crossings Drive, in Louisville. Heiner plans to make a formal announcement in Lexington Tuesday morning.

Though Attorney General Jack Conway has indicated there’s “a good chance” he’ll run for governor, the Democrat has not formally thrown his hat in the ring.

Most recently, Heiner was in the news after rounding up Republican business leaders to launch the New Direction Super PAC, a political action committee aimed at breaking the Democratic Party’s historic hold on the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Heiner is chairman of Capstone Realty, developer of two of the largest industrial parks in Kentucky and Indiana, Commerce Crossings in southern Jefferson County and River Ridge Commerce Park in Jeffersonville.
