Louisville Public Media president Michael Skoler announced Wednesday that he is stepping down as president and general manager to pursue other interests. Skoler relocated to Louisville to take the position on Dec. 1, 2016, succeeding Donovan Reynolds, who retired earlier that year.

The executive committee of LPM’s board has tapped executive editor Stephen George to serve as interim president and general manager starting immediately.

“Stephen has exhibited terrific leadership capabilities at LPM and in his previous roles, and we are pleased to entrust the leadership of the staff to him,” said LPM Board Chair Todd Lowe in a news release. “We thank Michael for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

“I thank Michael for his work on behalf of LPM and wish him well,” said George in the release. “I look forward to our organization’s continued growth in serving our city, state and region.”

LPM runs three public radio stations — WFPL, WFPK and WUOL — along with the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting and Do502.com.
