Mary Moseley is no longer leading the company that her late father Al J. Schneider left her in charge of.

Moseley served as president and CEO of Louisville real estate investment company The Al J. Schneider Co. for 15 years. She came under fire earlier this year when two of her sisters filed a lawsuit claiming she breached her fiduciary duties when she and others tried to sell the Galt House Hotel and other multi-million-dollar assets The Al J. Schneider Co. owns. The case has only grown and is still being litigated.

The legal battle has effectively stopped sale negotiations on all Al J. Schneider Co. properties. Most notably, Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex Corp. backed away from a $135 million deal to buy the Galt House Hotel.

The departure also comes after developer Eric Bachelor filed a lawsuit against the company and Moseley claiming they mismanaged the Embassy Suites downtown, a joint venture by Bachelor and The Al J. Schneider Co., WDRB News reported.

In a news release sent out Wednesday, July 20, the company does not name Moseley or comment on her departure. It simply states that Scott T. Shoenberger, chief operating officer of The Al J. Schneider Co., is now president and CEO.

“This is an exciting time as the landscape of hospitality evolves in Louisville,” Shoenberger said in the release. “It is my goal that The Al J. Schneider Company remains a leader in driving tourism and revenue within this community.”

Shoenberger has more than two decades experience in the industry and came to Louisville from Milwaukee in 2014 to join The Al J. Schneider Co.

The Al J. Schneider Co. also has promoted Deuce Sapp to chief information officer. He was previously director of information technology at the company.

“Sapp will be responsible for the technical leadership and management of all information technology systems and resources that deliver services to guests, help manage the business operations, and improve profitability,” the release states.
