716 E. Broadway to become a new event space

East Broadway gaining new event space

Having a wedding, a prom or a big anniversary bash in 2015? You now have another venue to consider.

A new event space is opening in 2015 at 716 E. Broadway. The Beaux Arts-style building (similar in style to Kurfees Paint mentioned earlier in MBB) was built in 1925 and most recently held a dental practice, a cash advance store and offices.

According to OfficeSpace.com, the building has hardwood floors and beautiful historic crown molding. There’s a detached one and a half car garage and a small grassy courtyard in back.

Renovations appear to have barely started; a peek through the window reveals the downstairs still is carved into offices.

A banner on the front of the building announced “New Event Space” and listed a phone number, but there was no answer when we called seeking more details.

FCC grants FM broadcast license to two local streaming radio stations

Louisvillians soon will be able to access two more radio stations on their FM dial: Streaming radio stations ARTxFM and Crescent Hill Radio last week were awarded construction permits from the Federal Communications Commission to develop new FM broadcast stations.

ARTxFM will be at 97.1 on the FM dial, while Crescent Hill Radio will be at 100.9. Official licenses will be finalized in the coming weeks, but both stations hope to begin broadcasting soon.

The licenses are available due to a 2010 amendment to the FCC’s Community Radio Act; the amendment made way for Low Power FM (LPFM) licenses for community radio stations that would allow them to broadcast on FM frequencies with a maximum of 100 watts of power.

Insider Louisville will have more on the story soon.
