After three years of throwing a four-day-long bash and music festival in Mexico, Louisville’s My Morning Jacket are moving their tropical vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. “One Big Holiday,” named after an MMJ song, is scheduled at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana from March 2-6, 2018.

MMJ will play three shows during the event. The band also is bringing along some A-list performers including Portugal. The Man, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Spoon, Broken Social Scene, Toots and The Maytals, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Sylvan Esso,  Moon Taxi, J. Roddy Walston and The Business, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

The Hard Rock is an all-inclusive resort, so all tickets include the festival as well as meals, beverages and activities. It also has the largest casino on the island, 13 pools surrounded by a Venetian-style canal, nine restaurants, a spa and fitness area, and a Nicklaus-designed golf course.

According to the news release, “One Big Holiday is again partnering with the charitable organization Positive Legacy, encouraging artists and fans to participate in a day of service and cultural connection in the local community as a way of giving back.” Also, $5 from every ticket sale goes to the charity and there will be auctions and fundraisers throughout the event to support Positive Legacy.

In addition to regular resort activities, there will be activities organized by the OBH crew including artist-led workshops, poolside contests and games, specialty programs, daily yoga, and a planned theme night. Attendees also can book opportunities to explore the Dominican Republic at an additional cost.

The official band statement about the event is: “OBH 4!  Delighted to experience One Big Holiday with you all again. Stoked for the change, and this time we embrace The Caribbean! After three years of launching into Mayan orbit, we are ready to share new constellations, beauty and wonder. We can’t wait to see you there!”

Guests who have attended an OBH in the past can register for the event on Tuesday, July 25. Everyone else has to wait until July 26.
