As we never grow tired of saying, no one knows the social hour like Stacey Servo at New2Lou.

And what a month October is shaping to be, with CycLOUvia, a zombie hike and outdoor movie in the forest, and exBEERiment delving into the science of brewing beer. (Local event planners seem to be getting a little fancy free with those imbedded all-caps these days).

Here’s their calendar, which we repost with their permission:

It’s time again to meet some new folks and try a new place.  New2Lou social is tonight at St. Charles Exchange and thanks to our partner Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, we will be giving away a pair of tickets to Dance Theatre of Harlem on October 20th! Be sure to sign in before 7 pm for your chance to win!

What’s on the radar this week? A ton of great events to get you in the Halloween spirit.  Speaking of Halloween, have you planned your costume yet? If not, get on it.  Louisville folks are serious when it comes to their costumes.   Need a little inspiration?  Check out Louisville Halloween website or visit one of our famous local shops like Caufields Novelty or Louise Cecil Costumes.

Wednesday (10/10) New2Lou 2nd Wed Social – Join us at our monthly social.  Grab a drink, meet new people and try a new place.  Location this month? St. Charles Exchange. Meet us on the back patio, look for the New2Lou signs and name tags.

Thursday (10/11) exBEERiment – Ever wanted to brew your own beer?  Here’s your chance! Join the Louisville Science Center for an evening of  local and eclectic beer tastings while learning the science behind home brewing. Must be 21 to attend. Purchase tickets here.

Friday (10/12) Corn Island Storytelling Festival – night of ghost stories at the University of Louisville, perfect to get you in the spirit (pun intended) of Halloween.  Several of the region’s top storytellers will share ghost tales beginning at 7 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.

Saturday (10/13) Foxhollow Farm 5th Annual Fall Festival – Enjoy a day of good old fashioned fun! Enjoy live bluegrass music, a pick-your-own-pumpkin patch, hay castles, carnival games, cakewalk, hay and horse rides, plus farm-fresh foods from Wiltshire PantryRyeGrind Food Truck and Gilberto Gelato.

Saturday (10/13) Wild and Woolly in the Woods – 2nd annual Zombie Hike, costume contest, trivia, and a special outdoor showing of the zombie classic “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie” at Jefferson Memorial Forest. Food from Taco Punk and beer from BBC available for purchase. Free event, parking $5.

Sunday (10/14)  CycLOUvia is part of a growing “open streets” movement where cars are temporarily removed from the city’s streets and the community is invited in to “play” in the streets.  And it’s coming to Louisville, Bardstown Road to be exact.

Sunday (10/14) Walking Dead Season 3 Premiere – Ok, ok, so this isn’t a local event, but that doesn’t mean we’re any less excited about it.  After a long break following Season 2, we finally get to meet the new characters and see what lies behind the prison wall.  The Walking Dead is on AMC at 9 pm EST.  Here’s the trailer...warning scary ZOMBIES.
