Last year, organizers of the inaugural Old Lou Brew Craft Beer Festival tied the event in with the annual St. James Court Art Show, and it was held after the first day of the show in the Edison Center parking lot. While the Brew Fest attracted more than 800 people, they quickly realized it was an event that could clearly stand on its own.

So this Friday, Aug. 24, will mark the second round for the Old Lou Brew Fest, a benefit for the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council, and it’ll be held at the picturesque Central Park. The new space allows for even more vendors, and so far there will be 12 local and regional breweries participating.

Curious to know which ones? Let’s take a look at the list: Against the Grain, Akasha Brewing, BBC, Goodwood, Gordon Biersch, Gravely, Great Flood, Holsopple, Milewide, Monnik, Old Louisville Brewery and West Sixth. That’s quite a crew.

And along with beer, there will be at least six food trucks on site, as well as family friendly activities and live music by Bridge 19.

Shawn Fields Williams, executive director of the Old Lou Neighborhood Council, tells Insider the new Central Park setting is a good fit for the Brew Fest, as it’s more comfortable and offers more parking and space for everyone.

“This beautiful Olmsted park is a¬†wonderful setting for the beer festival,” she says. “The 12 brewers will set up under the pergola. The food trucks will line up along the sidewalk behind it. People can enjoy the live music from Bridge 19 on the stage and sit in the amphitheater.”

There are more brewers participating than last year, and Williams says most will bring along their summer ales. Admission is $10 ($8 online), and once you’re in, each brewery will sell their own beers for around $6 for 16 ounces.

We had to ask Williams what she was most looking forward to the second time around.

“Just seeing lots of people in the park enjoying life and having fun with great music, fabulous beer and wonderful food is what we love to see in Old Louisville,” she says.

The Old Lou Brew Fest runs from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24. Children and dogs are permitted. Central Park is located at 1340 S. Fourth St.
