Robert Frost once said, “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” Poetry has now found Portland, and the monthly Portland Poetry Series continues on the first Monday of each month beginning March 2.
The series was created to highlight local, regional and national poets through monthly readings at McQuixote Books & Coffee, inside the Tim Faulkner Gallery. The events are gaining in popularity and offer the same format each time — including a “works from the canon” session, featured poets and open-mic spots.
“It creates a great dynamic to the evening. No one thing takes over. Everyone has the full attention of the audience,” says host and IL contributor Eli Keel.
The next installment, on March 2, has the theme “Epiphany.” The featured poets are Amber Burns, Jeremy Clark, Adam Day and Yolantha Harrison-Pace. The readings begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
