If you’re not visiting the in-laws this year, and you’re not one to cook, why not go out for your Thanksgiving meal? It’s 2013. Going out for holiday dinners doesn’t have to be like that infamous Chinese restaurant scene from “A Christmas Story,” anymore.
Here’s a list of places right here in Louisville that offer a traditional-style Thanksgiving without having to fight over the last box of stuffing at the grocery store.
Thanksgiving at Sway
If you come from a family of picky eaters, take them to the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Fourth Street for dinner this year. The hotel’s Sway restaurant is offering a family-style dining experience that will include a buffet featuring a variety of traditional Thanksgiving dishes plus several of Sway’s signatures. And after dinner, guests will enjoy a table of assorted desserts, every kid’s favorite part of Thanksgiving.
Sway will be serving from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. To make your reservation, call Sway management at 502-217-6028.
Adults – $35
Seniors – $30
Children 5-12 – $16
Thanksgiving at Proof on Main
If it’s just the adults celebrating together this year, dine with art at Proof on Main and try some of their delicious Thanksgiving specials (along with a drink or two, if you like). Proof’s Chef Levon Wallace has prepared a holiday menu for the occasion, and will also be serving non-traditional Proof on Main classics. And don’t forget to impress your visiting relatives by taking them for a walk through the 21C modern art museum after dinner.
Thanksgiving will be served from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. To make reservations, call 502-217-6360. Admission to the museum is free, dinner prices vary by the dish.
Thanksgiving Royal Brunch at the Oakroom
For those of you who’d just prefer a romantic Thanksgiving meal with that special someone, look no further than Louisville’s Seelbach Hilton Hotel. This year they’re hosting a Thanksgiving royal brunch in the Oakroom, which is well-known for its elegant atmosphere that is perfect for all special occasions. With the promise of a romantic holiday experience, pianist Steve Crews will provide live musical entertainment while guests dine on traditional Thanksgiving favorites.
Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. You can take a sneak peak at the menu here. To make reservations, call 502-585-9292.

Seasonal salads and soups will also be available.
