Graham Baughman, CEO of WhiteBox Learning, will be the guest speaker at the next Venture Connectors Luncheon on Jan. 7. WhiteBox Learning is a web-based learning platform that combines 3-D engineering and design with 3-D gaming to help inspire more students to embrace STEM-related studies.
WhiteBox Learning offers a standards-based applied STEM learning system that allows students to build, analyze and simulate their designs virtually, hundreds of times, before building their physical models, then generates templates to build the physical model. There are gliders, model cars, dragsters, rockets and rovers available from the company.
WhiteBox Learning is in half of America’s 100 largest school districts and serves more than 100,000 students in grades 6-12.
Baughman formerly served as president of Thorntons Inc. After leaving Thorntons, he wrote a book called “I’d Be More Spiritual with a Billion Bucks: Connecting Spirituality Through the Language of Success” (wouldn’t we all).
He was also CEO and managing partner at BlueStone Equity Partners.
Venture Connectors’ luncheon meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the meeting runs from noon-1:15 p.m. Registration is required at www.ventureconnectors.org.
