Think about it: You could treat yourself to a Salted Pumpkin Caramel Spiced Boysenberry Skinny Latte at Starbucks with that $10 burning a hole in your pocket, or you could enter a drawing to win a vintage 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe, help out local children who need an organ transplant and get free entry into a party. Which sounds like the better deal?
Local humanitarian Bob Beatty started this annual raffle of a vintage car in 2009, and since then, the event has raised more than $900,000 for Kosair Kids, an offshoot of Kosair Charities. Though Beatty died last year, his army of volunteers has decided to carry on his tradition. They’re hoping to reach the $1 million mark with this year’s raffle.
The $10 ticket gives you a shot at wining the Coupe (organizers say the average number of tickets sold is around 8,000) and gets you into the Classic Car Giveaway Celebration on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Kosair Shrine Center, 4120 Bardstown Road. The party features the drawing for the car, appetizers, a cash bar and live music by The Monarchs. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the music starts at 8.
You can purchase raffle tickets up until the event on Nov. 13 by mailing a check to Kosair Charities, P.O. Box 37370, Louisville, KY 40233; or stopping by the Kosair Shrine Center, Craig & Landreth (5357 Dixie Highway) or Coyle Chevrolet (1801 Broadway St. in Clarksville).
