You might know him through his role as Kurt Hummel on the popular television show “Glee,” but young readers across America know him as the author of the book series “The Land of Stories.” Chris Colfer has found success in writing children’s literature, and on Monday, he will bring his books to Louisville.
Carmichael’s Bookstore is presenting an event with the author, including a reading, Q&A session, trivia and more, at the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) downtown. Colfer will read from the final book in his series, “Worlds Collide.”
“The Land of Stories” is children’s fantasy series where the main characters, Alex and Conner Bailey, travel from the real world into different fairytale lands. “Worlds Collide” was released on July 11.
During the hour-long interactive event at YPAS, attendees will participate in a variety of activities, including “The Land of Stories” trivia and a costume contest, along with the reading and Q&A.
Tickets to the event come with a purchase of the final book, which will be on sale at the admission desk. Upon admission, each attendee will receive a raffle ticket, and at the end of the event, Colfer will select five ticket-holders in a drawing to meet the author afterwards.
(Fans who come in costume will receive an extra raffle ticket.)
Although Colfer is now a renowned author on tour for his best-selling series, he first rose to fame in television. Aside from his role in “Glee,” he also appeared in shows like “The Cleveland Show” and “Struck by Lightning.” Now, after finishing his book, he is planning to turn the first book, “The Wishing Spell,” into a film.
The event begins at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 17. Tickets are $23.50 for one admission and a book (or $36 for two admissions and one book) and available online as well as at the door. YPAS is located on 1517 S. Second St.
