The 45th season celebration starts off with a bang as Derby Dinner Playhouse presents “The Savannah Sipping Society.” From the authors of “The Dixie Swim Club” comes a laugh-a-minute comedy about four Southern women, all needing to escape their day-to-day routines, drawn together by fate—and an impromptu happy hour.  Deciding it is high time to reclaim the zest and enthusiasm for life they have lost through the years, these unique women find themselves, and each other, in Savannah.

The story covers a period of six months and is filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures and the occasional liquid refreshment, as the middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence they need to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment and most importantly realize it is never too late to make new old friends.

Derby Dinner’s production of “The Savannah Sipping Society” is directed by Georgette Kleier-Hottois.  Featured in the cast are Derby Dinner favorites Tina Jo Wallace, Melissa Combs, Debbie King-Raque, and Jillian Prefach.  This delightful comedy was written by Jessie Jones, Nicolas Hope and Jamie Wooten, collectively knows as JONES HOPE WOOTEN.  This writing team enjoys the reputation of being three of the most popular and widely-produced playwrights in the country who specialize in writing laugh-out-loud comedies and creating vivid strong roles for women.  Derby Dinner has previously produced two of their comedies “The Dixie Swim Club” and “The Hallelujah Girls” to sold-out crowds.
