$30 million for Eurofins Genomics

Eurofins Genomics has been awarded a $30 million contract from the Department of Air Force, in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to build a new production facility and expand capacity for the manufacturing of reagents used in COVID-19 diagnostic tests. The new facility will be located next to Eurofins Genomics’ current facility in Louisville which is a logistical hub for the Eurofins Group in the United States.

Bottle feeding device for infants

Music therapist Michael Detmer and Rebekah Gossom, a speech-language pathologist who specializes in pediatric feeding, have developed LullaFeed, an integrated biofeedback device using music reinforcement to encourage infants to drink from the bottle. This is the first product from their startup, Innovative Therapeutix, which they co-founded in 2017.

Goldman Sachs recognizes Climavision CEO

Climavision CEO Chris Goode is to be recognized by Goldman Sachs as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2021 at its Builders + Innovators Summit in Healdsburg, California. Goode, of Louisville, co-founded Climavision earlier this year to dramatically improve weather forecasting around the United States. We interviewed Goode this past June.

Called Mella, it is the first countertop appliance made for growing edible gourmet mushrooms at home. By creating the correct environment, automating humidity and providing airflow, Mella makes the process easy for growing a variety of gourmet mushrooms.

Louisville’s Waystar studies RPA adoption

Waystar, a provider of healthcare payments software, did a study about the adoption of robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI) by leading health systems. RPA and AI usage remains inconsistent across the various parts of the revenue cycle. However, 64% of those surveyed plan to pursue these technologies within the next three years—primarily to improve financial performance.

Brown-Forman joins environmental initiative

Brown‑Forman is joining RE100, a global environmental initiative, and committing to 100% renewable electricity by 2030. RE100 is an initiative run by The Climate Group, a global non-profit that focuses on activities against climate change, in partnership with the CDP, a global non-profit that drives companies and governments to disclose and manage their environmental impacts. So far, a total of 267 companies have joined the initiative worldwide.

Humana to upgrade infrastructure in Lyon County

Humana Healthy Horizons, Humana’s Kentucky Medicaid Plan, announced a $207,000 investment that will upgrade infrastructure in Lyon County, Kentucky, in order to increase the availability of internet services and improve digital access to healthcare.

Sullivan U joins RAPID Alliance study

Sullivan University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences announced it is joining the RAPID Alliance Medications 360 Study, with a goal of transforming how medications and vaccines are delivered in the U.S. from 2022-2031. The RAPID Alliance is a multi-stakeholder research consortium founded by University of Louisville Center for Health Organization Transformation (CHOT), a National Science Foundation-funded research center.
