For the first time, Brown-Forman Corp. has been placed on the EPA’s “National Top 100 List” of the largest green power users. The company is using 130 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually, which represents more than 98 percent of its U.S. operations’ total power needs. The company is also planning a $96 million expansion on Dixie Highway.
Ky Angel Investment Tax credit returns
To encourage business growth and job creation, the Kentucky Angel Investment Act Tax Credit is being brought back for 2021. The tax credit is meant to help qualified individual investors make capital investments in Kentucky small businesses. Qualified Investment applications for Angel Tax Credit consideration will be accepted starting Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at 9 a.m. local time in Frankfort, Ky.
New tech improves care for stroke victims
Norton Brownsboro Hospital is one of the first hospitals in the country to install new tech that provides 3D images of parts of the brain. The tech, called biplane X-ray technology, provides high-tech resolution imaging that allows surgeons to see blood vessels better in the hopes of improving care for ischemic strokes and hemorrhagic strokes.
UofL to develop preventative nasal spray
UofL has received $8.5 million funding from the U.S. Department of Defense to develop a nasal spray that could prevent serious viral respiratory infections such as COVID-19. The spray will be created using Q-Griffithsin, a drug compound developed and co-owned by UofL.
