Norton launches Genomics Lab

Wouldn’t it be great if biopsy results came back faster, with a specific breakdown of the cancer mutation so doctors could tailor treatments? The Norton Cancer Institute has launched a genomics lab that is the first of its kind in Louisville to help do just that. The lab now enables testing for mutations in more than 50 genes, whereas previously mutations were tested in three genes.

It’s a first for Kentucky’s community college system: a patent filing. Somerset Community College has filed a provisional patent application for a 3D technique used to make masks during the pandemic.
