Render to drive innovation in Louisville and Southern Indiana

Access Ventures has launched a new for-profit entity, called Render, which will work with local corporations and community partners to drive innovation in the Louisville and Southern Indiana region. Render Capital will serve as the capital arm of the new organization.

Conducting surgery in a weightless environment

An invention developed by UofL’s astrosurgery team made its first trip to space for testing in weightlessness as a payload aboard a suborbital space flight by Virgin Galactic. The system is designed to make it possible for surgery to be conducted in a weightless environment and would be used on long-term space missions, such as on a lunar station or deep-space missions to Mars. Appriss Insights acquired

Appriss Insights, a source of risk and criminal justice intelligence, has been acquired by Equifax for approximately $360 million. Appriss Insights will expand Equifax relationships with employers, background screeners and state and federal government agencies, extending Equifax reach into the $5 billion U.S. talent acquisition market and $2 billion U.S. government social services delivery market.

NetGain acquires 4EOS

NetGain Technologies, a managed IT services provider headquartered in Lexington with several offices in Louisville, is acquiring Indiana-based firm 4EOS. This comes just one week after NetGain revealed it had acquired Florida-based managed IT services provider TruTechnology.
