Louisville recognized for tech ecosystem

Louisville is making top ten lists in the U.S.! A new study from communications and media company, Suddenlink, revealed the top tech hubs in the U.S. and Louisville was #9. The criteria included the number of tech companies present, tech jobs per 10,000 capita, number of Wi-Fi hotspots, average internet speed, and the cost of monthly internet. Louisville scored the 8th spot on a list of top 10 cities for living and working in digital.

ScionHealth coming to Louisville

Tennessee-based LifePoint Health acquired Kindred Healthcare in June. Now they have announced a new structure of combining the two companies’ healthcare spaces: ScionHealth. ScionHealth will be headquartered in Louisville and include 79 hospital campuses in 25 states.

UofL and LG&E pursue renewable energy options

The University of Louisville is part of new power agreements between the LG&E and Kentucky Utilities Company to provide more renewable energy options. As part of this ongoing commitment, the planned construction of a 125-megawatt solar facility in western Kentucky will provide renewable solar power to UofL, as well as the University of Kentucky, North American Stainless, Dow and The Chemours Company.

KY woman helps empower women with tech solution

Jane Mosbacher Morris once worked in counterterrorism for the U.S. government, focusing on helping women fight Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Iraq and Afghanistan. She learned that in order for women to have more influence, they needed more money. All of this led her to launch To The Market, which offers a tech-enabled solution to connect retailers with a syndicated network of women-created apparel, accessories, and home goods suppliers from around the world. To the Market recently secured a $5 million investment led by Curate Capital, a venture fund dedicated to accelerating the success of companies by women for women.

ARGI to create 245 investment jobs

This year the Kentucky commonwealth has recorded year-to-date, private-sector new-location and expansion announcements over $10 billion in total planned investment and commitments to create 14,000 full-time jobs across the coming years. The latest expansion announcement comes as Gov. Andy Beshear announced financial services provider ARGI Financial Group will create 245 quality job opportunities in the years ahead with a $2.7 million investment.
