UofL: $170 million for research
In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the University of Louisville secured nearly $170 million to support groundbreaking research. That funding, an increase of nearly $18 million over the previous year in fiscal 2018-2019, marks the university’s most successful year ever for competitively funded research. The money went toward training students for tech jobs, to testing vaccines to developing next-generation manufacturing technology.
Virtual Peaker partners with Flair
Louisville’s Virtual Peaker, which produces a cloud-based residential DER platform to control home temperatures room by room, is partnering with Flair, a San Francisco-based company that makes the Flair Puck, a fully wireless smart thermostat for ductless heat pumps. “Ductless heating and cooling systems are rapidly increasing in popularity in the States, and they’re already the most common type of air conditioning system in the world,” said William (Bill) Burke, founder and CEO of Virtual Peaker.
Pvt selected for Google’s Black Founders Exchange
Louisville startup Pvt has been selected to participate in the fifth annual Google for Startups Black Founders Exchange (BFE), an immersion program based in North Carolina that is a collaboration between Google for Startups and the American Underground (AU) startup hub. Pvt is a subscription-based platform that offers access to an executive coach, a financial advisor, a life coach, and a business consultant.
