As more distilleries come onto the scene, each has to create a one-of-a-kind experience for guests. Some host dinners, some offer up live music on the weekends, and others serve up craft cocktails and additional tastings.
The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience — which was the first to open its doors on the re-branded Whiskey Row in 2013 — has converted its conference space on the third floor to a bar and lounge area, mainly for visitors awaiting a tour or looking to grab a drink afterward, but also for the general public starting Wednesday, July 4.
Led by mixologist Karla Plott, the bar features six rotating seasonal cocktails and a comfortable, modern atmosphere that overlooks the bustling West Main Street. Plott’s resumé includes stints at Proof on Main and Down One Bourbon Bar, among others.
She tells Insider she makes her cocktails with fresh ingredients, and they’ll be made, of course, with Evan Williams and parent company Heaven Hill brands.
Currently on the menu is the Libertea Old Fashioned, made with black tea-infused Evan Williams Single Barrel, herbal liqueur, muddled sugar and black walnut bitters. And for those who may be new to bourbon, there are options like Bailed Out in Barbados, a unique take on a pina colada, and Matcha Mustachio, made with Evan Williams bourbon and peach whiskey.
After Wednesday’s opening at noon, the bar and lounge will be open Thursdays through Sundays during tour hours, which is around noon to 6 p.m. The space also is available to rent after-hours.
