This is cool.

Glassdoor, the Sausalito, Calif.-based career search website, has included one — and only one — large Louisville-based company on its  Employees’ Choice Awards 2014 recognizing the 50 best large companies to work for in the United States.

There among the Bains, Googles, Starbucks and Apples is Texas Roadhouse, the Louisville-based chain of fast-casual steak houses founded by Kent Taylor way back in the 1980s.

Glassdoor just announced its sixth annual Employees’ Choice Awards, honoring the 50 Best Places to Work. “Winners were determined by the people who know these companies best — their employees,” according to a news release.

Those Texas Roadhouse employees got their company a No. 47 spot between Memorial Sloane-Kettering cancer center in New York City and Stryker, the Kalamazoo, Mich.-based medical instruments giant.

(For the record, Texas Roadhouse tops eBay, which is No. 49 on the list.)

Here’s what Glassdoor says about Taylor & Co.:

Picture 4Boston-based private equity/business consulting giant Bain & Co. scored the top spot on the Glassdoor poll, followed by Twitter.

True story: When I was working at Business First a few years ago, I went to the Texas Roadhouse HQ over on Dutchmans Lane to interview Kent about the chain’s Middle East expansion. Kent walked into a boardroom full of top executives, sat down and smiled at me with a huge set of novelty-store teeth. In Glassdoor’s just-released survey of employees, Kent gets a 98-percent approval!
