With dozens of restaurants and bars nearby, Jeffersontown is becoming a go-to location in the Metro area. The annual Summer Craft Beer Fest will keep up its end of the bargain as it reaches its fifth year on Saturday, June 29.

The festival, which started in 2015 with around 25 beverage vendors, continues to grow in year five, with more than 50 brands pouring in excess of 100 different beers, wines and hard seltzers. Its footprint increases yet again this year, with more vendor booths on Neal Drive in addition to its main location in the Pavilion at Gaslight Square, along with a portion of 3rd Turn Brewing’s lot.

Participating craft breweries include Athens, Ga.-based Terrapin Brewing as well as local and regional favorites like Against the Grain, Gravely Brewing, Goodwood Brewing, Great Flood, Mile Wide Beer Co. and Covington’s Braxton Brewing.

Special areas include the Lager Lounge at city hall, the Cigar Lounge next to the Pavilion and the new 1,400-square-foot Hop House Lounge, which is located behind 3rd Turn.

This year’s festival will veer from a total craft brewing focus to feature a pair of beverages that have grown in popularity in recent years: ciders and hard seltzers. They will be served in a new area called the Truly Bubbly Bar.

“So many people haven’t even tried them for one reason or another,” said festival organizer Tisha Gainey in a news release. The dedicated bar offers those new to these suddenly popular beverages a way to taste-test a variety of them while still having plenty of craft beer to choose from.

Two stages will feature live music this year, with Hot Brown Smackdown and another act that has not yet been announced. Food trucks will be on hand to feed hungry attendees, including All Thai’d Up, the Blue Crab seafood truck, Moe-licious BBQ, El Mambo Cuban cuisine and Fresh Out the Box, which serves Asian cuisine.

Three shaded lounges will be available, and Yelp will operate a mist tent to help attendees keep cool. Nearby Mac Dough’s will hold an after-party for further cool-down.

Tickets to the event, which will be held from 4-8 p.m., are $40 in advance or $45 at the gate. The Gaslight Pavilion is located at 10434 Watterson Trail.
