The SLCM was founded in 1975 to help neighborhood families in need. Today they host programs that range from a food pantry and medication assistance to emergency financial assistance and Meals on Wheels. They serve more than 2,000 people each month.

According to the event’s press release, more than 700 enjoyed last year’s Taste of South Louisville, so you should get your tickets now — and they’re cheaper if you get them by close of business Friday. Advance tickets are $25 and available at the SLCM offices, 415 1/2 W. Ashland Ave. You also can get them at the door for $30.

The event runs from 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.
