Downward dog? No way — try yoga with kittens

It is unclear exactly how “mindful” one can be while surrounded by a bunch of frolicking kittens, so if you’re really intent on getting some meditation in, then this isn’t the event for you.

Sādhāna Yoga Louisville is once again hosting Yoga with Kittens on Sunday, Aug. 27. It’s a 90-minute gentle yoga class plus a whole bunch of adoptable kittens from the Shamrock Pet Foundation. While you get your downward dog on, the kittens will have the run of the studio, toys and snacks. Prepare to be crawled on.

The yoga will be taught by new instructor Monica Hanofee.

According to the news release, “Each kitten that is brought will be available for adoption, and although you won’t be able to adopt them at the class, you’ll be able to put them on hold and adopt them from a Shamrock Foundation location as soon as later that day.”

So on Sunday, you could get your zen on and meet your new best friend.

Shamrock Pet Foundation is a nonprofit that offers spay/neuter options, education and awareness about pet safety and animal abuse and pet adoption services. It is led by volunteers. Photos of adoptable dogs and cats are available on Shamrock’s website.

Tickets for yoga are $35 if you pre-register online and $40 at the door. The class starts at noon. Sādhāna Yoga is located at The Pointe, 1205 E. Washington St.
